Sudha Rani (born 14 August 1974) is an Indian actress in Kannada film industry.[1] She has featured in several commercial and critically acclaimed films in Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil.

Some of her notable films include Anand (1986), Panchama Veda (1989),Mysooru Mallige (1992), Mannina Doni (1992), Anuraga Sangama (1995) and Sparsha (2000) among others. She has so far twice won the Filmfare Awards and Karnataka State Film Awards for her performances.[2]

Early Life
Rani was born into a family based in MalleswaramBangalore. She has two elder brothers. She began modeling in print ads at the age of three. Her mother nurtured Sudha's talent by enrolling her in dance classes at age five. Rani is an accomplished Kuchipudi and Bharata Natyam dancer.

Film Career
Rani began her acting career as a child in the 1978 film Kiladi Kittu. She subsequently appeared in Ranganayaki, directed by Puttanna Kanagal. She was noticed by the spouse of actor and singer Rajkumar in a thread ceremony video at the age of 12. 

Rajkumar selected her to be the heroine of the film Anand. She went on to appear in such films as Mana Mechida HudugiSamaraAasegobba MeesegobbaAnna Tangi, and Midida Shruti. She paired with Ramesh Aravind in over eight films, including Panchama VedaShrigandhaAragini, and Anuraga Sangama. Rani dominated the Kannada film industryin the 1990s.

Awards
Sudha Rani was twice awarded the Karnataka State Award for Best Actress: in 1988 for the film Panchama Veda and in 1991 for Mysore Mallige. For the latter film, she also won the Filmfare Best Actress Award.
